Ottawa First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Eastern Kansas was established on September 30, 1869.
In 1887 the First Christian Church was built on a lot at 314 S. Cedar. After this building was flooded in the great flood of July 1951, they moved to and bought the Old Garfield School and slowly built the facility currently being used. The current building was dedicated on May 3, 1964. The old Garfield School was demolished on July 13th, 1964.
We continue to grow the ministry that God has through Ottawa FCC to the community and the world through the ministry of Rev. Bob Colerick.
Our purpose at Ottawa FCC is to provide A Church Family for You! You are invited to come and get involved in the life of the church and create loving relationships within FCC. If you feel called to join us in sharing God’s vision and mission of sharing God’s love contact Rev. Bob Colerick at the church 785.242.4699 or come forward on the last invitational hymn and commit your life to Jesus Christ as the Son of God and your Lord and Savior. Or Come forward and transfer your membership to FCC.
The Disciples Women Fellowship is another ministry that has helped further our mission providing a church family. They meet quarterly on the first Wednesday of the month at 1:30 pm. All women of FCC are invited to participate. Contact the church to get the DWF President’s phone number, if you feel called to participate.
One of our outreaches to the community is a monthly Friday Friendship Feast, held at 5:00pm every 3rd Friday. Through the dedicated work of several individuals, a dinner is provided, free of charge.
